Long time readers may be pleased to learn that we’ve successfully begun work on Blood in the Duff again.
Everything that is a work in progress for us, no matter how long it seems to have been abandoned, is something that could be finished at any time. We don’t actually truly abandon anything (except comics, we’ll probably never do comics again, as much as we loved working in the format).
There are so many factors that go into causing us to put a piece on hiatus. Life events, such as the recent election, are a big one. But also we have ADHD, Autism, and plurality. And these things give us things like executive dysfunction, hyperfocus, superfocus, anxiety, and amnesia. And it’s kind of a wild storm of people in our head, and it’s a lot of fun to manage it, as maybe you can imagine.
Medication, historically, has been no help at all, generally making things worse. We’ve tried a lot of meds, too, and have permanent given ourselves chronic migraines as the side effect to one of them. (Watch out for that Welbutrin, it can do that. Rarely, but still a possibility.)
Anyway, we do manage to write a lot, such as it is, and get quite a few books done, even if some of them have to go on the backburner occasionally to make way for more pressing plots and characters. And it works for us.
In any case.
When we left Blood in the Duff, we were kind of worried that that story wasn’t working very well, and we weren’t sure if we needed to go back and rewrite huge chunks of it. And we were a little bamboozled as to what to do next for plot developments. But what really drew us away from it was the burning need to get The Tunnel Apparati Diaries written and out before the election, to make sure that story had been told before possible disaster. So we did that. And then girldragongizzard and Teratovore took over and we wrote those as well. It was a good break.
And while we have some publishing work to get done on those books, still, we’re in a writing mood now, and Blood in the Duff is calling, and we reread it, and, no, actually, it’s a very workable book and we’re quite proud of it!
So, we’re now too chapters ahead of what’s on the website, and we’re going to finish writing the book before we start updating it here. We want to give ourselves room to edit and polish it off first.
Meanwhile, Teratovore is still running on Scribblehub, so there’s plenty new to read from us right now.
